Print Magazine
Above are a handful of issues of Print from my days as Editor-in-Chief. In addition to a complete redesign of the magazine’s logo and layout, one of the more ambitious projects we undertook was to invite some of our favorite design teams from around the world to tackle the feature sections of each issue. Some were instant hits, like Spin from the UK and Project Projects from New York. Others were less well received but all of them were provocative, surprising, and adventurous.
In addition to running Print the magazine, I also conceived and oversaw a handful of new brand extensions including Print Publishing, a luxury book division, and Imprint, a daily blog that quickly became a hit among the design community, reaching nearly 1 million Twitter followers in just under two years. We even introduced a new conference called the Color Conference, with special guests including legendary IDEO founder Bill Moggridge, acclaimed designer Mirko Ilic, Pentagram partner Eddie Opara, and the grand dame of New York design herself, Debbie Millman.
“I had the distinct pleasure of working with Aaron for over two years when he was the Editor of Print Magazine. To me there is one word that sums up Aaron: brilliant. He was one of the most creative and strategic thinking editors I have ever worked with. He constantly pushed the boundaries with exciting new ideas that elevated the magazine’s content and market presence. He brought a vibrancy and energy to the publication that had been lacking for years and created some very memorable issues and the highly regarded website "Imprint". He also brings a very strong business and entrepreneurial sensibility to the editorial position. Needless to say I am a fan and highly recommend Aaron.”
